Deputy Minister of Education 1 Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said naming the
RM3 million new three-storey Administration Building of SM La Salle after Brother
Charles O'Leary, 85, was "really justified" when she officiated its
opening.
The event was attended by thousand students, teachers, ex-teachers, a
slew of parents and ex-students, including Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri
Joseph Pairin Kitingan, former Plantation Minister Tan Sri Bernard Dompok and
Datuk Edward Yong, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister and wife Datin Mary
Yong.
In the citation of Bro Charles, current Principal Julia Willie Jock
said, "Few who can claim to have taught a Chief Minister but fewer still
can match Bo Charles who had taught three former Chief Ministers (Pairin,
Dompok, Taib Mahmud) and a former Head of State (Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah)
